Product is as shown and desrcibed. Little bit annoying to build. Should use bolts instead of rivets.
I really do love the variocage. I chose it for safety. The only thing is it definitely will not fit both of my shepherds. My older 96lb boy cannot turn around in it and where he is 14 and arthritic it is just to cramped for him. That was disappointing that I can't have both dogs in this. With the devider out it is just enough room for my younger 86lbs shepherd. Another thing to note is that i put it in my 2024 Suburban and the provided tie downs (which are part of the safety) do not even come close the reaching the tie down rings in my Sub at the front. I was told which ones to buy to replace the originals by 4x4 North America. This was disappointing as I just paid $3500 for a kennel and now have to spend more money to buy the right straps that should have been included. Both K&J and 4x4 North America knew the vehicle i was putting this in. No offer of a rebate or for them to provide the required tie down straps. Also it came damaged. I wrote to K&J right away (as i was unboxing and noticed the damage but I still have not heard back. I did reach out to 4x4 North America who answered me right away and are trying to get me a replacement piece. Again, disappointed that I paid that much for something that arrived damaged and the company I bought it from doesn't appear to care enough to respond.
I know this can happen and appreciated that 4x4NA is trying to make it right. My other issue was that I waited over a month to hear back from K&J about questions I had about purchasing a Variocage. I know they are super busy but still not good customer service. When i finally did hear back I was asked for measurements which I sent in but then did not hear back again. I let time pass and then just ended up emailing 4x4vNA. They helped me right away. K&J did respond to me very fast once I paid for one. This was very disappointing. I would like to point out that i have purchased a collapsible crate from them for my police k9 in the past and recieved great service. I believe they have grown since then. In saying that they may just need someone to answer customers questions. AI did not help. Overall, semi happy with the product other than being super disappointed i paid all that money and didn't have tie downs that even remotely came close to reaching, that it arrived damaged and that i really got zero help from the people I bought it from. Very happy with 4x4 NA's response time and the quality of the product minus the damage. I really hope in the future Variocage will come up with a wider and longer variocage for bigger dogs that will fit in these larger suv's.
I love my K&J crates. I have two collapsible and two stationaries. I have flown with the stationary crates, without issues. And I really love this company. It's a small family company that truly cares about their customers. Highly recommend K&J!
We ordered a large wide and tall for or Cane Corso puppy. This is a top tier Canadian made crate that will last forever. Very pleased with the customer service as well.
This matt fits perfectly in the large wide and tall crate we ordered, and it came free with the crate! Very impressed with the quality of both crate and matt.
My dog is a working dog and we travel by car frequently so I felt that we needed a quality crate for travel. I chose the Variocage over other crash tested crates for its solid safety rating and to give my dog an open barred crate so that he could see out better. I am please with how solid and rattle-free the crate is and my dog is comfortable in it. My only complaint is that we had some issues putting it together with some screws not sinking properly no matter what we did. In spite of this issue, the crate is solid. We found an on-line video to help guide us through assembly, which we preferred to the paper instructions.
My dog has destroyed 2 crates and multiple things in the house. Invested in a K&J and we can now leave knowing he wont hurt himself or destroy anything else. They are really well built and nice to look at.
Thanks K&J
K&J is a fantastic company to work with and honestly I don't even know why I thought of buying crates from other companies. They are the only company that sells a 200 size crate that isn't over $1,000 that I can fly my dogs in. When I had questions they were quick to respond and patient as we worked out issues. They have a customer for life in me. On a side note their collapsible crates are great, I just can't fly my dogs in them anymore hence the new crate purchase.
Very helpful and accommodating which made my purchase stress free. I would highly recommend/refer to any dog owner!!
Entreprise, super, les personnes qui travaillent sont exceptionnels et rapide, suite aux problèmes qu’on a eu avec DHL Ils ont pas hésité à nous renvoyer une cage très rapidement pour qu’on les attend pour notre départ. Encore merci
I love my crate the color is beautiful. Can't wait for the next. dog show
Very durable. So far our very active Dutch Shepherd pup who loves to chew hasn't broken through it! High quality product.
So I’ll preface my review with this important distinction between the models of K&J crates offered:
The folding crates pack down & pop up, with no assembly required.
The stationary crates are completely disassembled: 3 sides plus the door, as well as the top & bottom.
We ordered the stationary crate.
Assembly is done using rivets. A manual rivet gun is provided, but unless you have the handgrip of “Ahnold” in his prime, you might swear a bit … there are hundreds of rivets, and distinguishing between the panel rivets & the corner rivets is not trivial.
Assembly took us a number of hours & was somewhat frustrating.
I must highlight that Jill & her husband were very responsive & helpful - ultimately we are delighted with the finished product. They answered all our questions & ensured we were able to successfully assemble our crate.
They’re good people and their products are excellent. They filled a niche that is much needed here in Canada. Highly recommended.
Bottom line: if you want a folding crate or just the convenience of no assembly - then get the folding version. If you are handy & a do-it-yourselfer who enjoys putting stuff together, then get the stationary crate. Either crate is great for travel & is definitely what you want if you have an escape artist dog!
Thank you Jill!
I am extremely impressed with the quality of the collapsible crate. It was very easy to put together. I got the pink one and the colour is just fantastic.
I got this in XS for my mini smooth dachshund. I will say even the XS is too big for her but if you have multiple then 2 fits no problem. Two of mine fit in there.
Having a collapsible crate is very convenient especially if I don’t want to use it for the daily in the house, I have that option to make storing easier. Even the little paw print detailing in the vents and the little Canadian flag in the corner. A lot of thought went into making these. Definitely recommend.
Security at its finest. Only crate that has been able to contain my super smart, anxious and stubborn boy. I’d have saved money buying this from the start as he totaled 5 other crates. Now I have piece of mind.
Purchased a cage because my dog broke out of the one we had. She will never escape this one im beyond satisfied with my purchase
